Abstract
The panel focuses on the development of historiographies of Central Eastern Europe over the past 35 years. This period is characterised by the fact that the historiographies of the individual countries have had to respond to significant social changes that have led to a significant re-evaluation of historiography and its role in society. This concerns the whole historical spectrum, from the early Middle Ages to contemporary history. The two transformations are: 1) the period of the 1990s, when the old political regime is rapidly disintegrating and democratic structures are gradually being built; 2) the period of the last ten years, when in this geopolitical space there has been a gradual escalation of crisis phenomena (precipitated by the period of anti-epidemic restrictive measures) towards open war of aggression. The main focus will be on Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Ukrainian historiographies, with overlaps into the historiographies of neighbouring countries.
