Abstract
It is undeniable that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has brought the issue of war and peace back to the center of attention and that, given the area directly affected by the conflict, Eastern Europe, our commission has found itself, on several occasions, considering the implications that this situation may have on the lines of study and research. However, wanting to escape the contingency of the moment, the CIEHS intends to propose in its panel, a broader survey of the state of the art regarding the issue of war and peace in the long term, taking into account regional and national specificities of the broad area of its expertise.
We would therefore like to question ourselves on the historiographical legacy that we have today regarding the Balkans, Central-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe.
Four papers will be proposed, by specialists of/on these areas. The panelists will offer contributions focused on some events and historiographical nodes relevant to the general argument. Each speaker is asked to present a reflection on his analytical tools and to evaluate their validity and effectiveness in the light of past studies, but above all in the light of future studies.
